A female reader, RedAthena United States +, writes (8 August 2011):

RedAthena agony auntIt may not have been the unprotected sex that caused it, because it usually takes a bit longer time to develop to show.

See a Doctor for the correct medication and testing if needed. It may NOT be thrush.

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 August 2011):

I've had thrush before and it's nothing to worry too much about, at least every woman will experience it once in there life time.

You can go to your GP and they normally prescribe you one tablet to take and some cream for you to put on to stop the itching. However you can just buy the cream yourself at any chemists.

Other things which may relieve your symptoms are to try avoid wearing tight fitted clothing until all symptons are gone and to avoid using perfumed products around the vaginal area, such as soaps and shower gels, as these may cause further irritation.
