I prefer a girl to have had as little experience as possible. I don't need her comparing me to other guys and I don't need to be imagining her with other guys. I prefer that if she does have experience that it was in the context of long-term relationships and not flings and one night stands. That's just my preference. We can figure out how to get each other off, so I don't really care if she knows what to do or not.

 Why would a guy feel confident when she's just laying there? She needs to be responding in some way to his efforts, or he'll feel like he was no good. Unless, of course, he doesn't care whether she's enjoying it or not.
If "sitting back and enjoying the ride" means moaning, writhing, scratching, and all that other good stuff, then yes, that's awesome. If by "taking some initiative," you mean she is active enough to move into certain positions, initiate sex, or even just say what she wants, that's fun.
As for experience, it depends on what you mean. The word means "lots of previous partners" to me, but why would that equate to skill or enthusiasm? I mean, I'd rather be with a girl who slept with one guy a hundred times than a girl who slept with a hundred guys one time. I suspect the former case would equate to more skill, enjoyment of sex, and enthusiasm, but somehow the term "experienced" would refer to the latter girl.

reader, anonymous, writes (29 May 2011): Most people assume "experienced" to mean you've had numerous other lovers in the past. That kind of experienced has very little to do with being good or bad at sex. Some of the best lovers have only been with a few people so they had time to learn about their partner. Whereas some people who have slept around a lot have learned virtually nothing from it. Being good at sex is a positive for most guys. But being "experienced" with high numbers of partners is just a turnoff for most guys.
