He's playful with me when we text and talk in class and everything, but the only times he will INITIATE contact is when it's something to do with our class/an assignment. We have met up before to work on assignments together, however I can't tell if he's really into me at all, because he's never asked me out and doesn't text me randomly, unless it's about school. He has hinted at me being beautiful, but in my experience if a guy isn't asking you out or to hang out it's because he's not that into you so I'm not sure. By the way, I know he's recently single so it cant be that he's taken. Am I right or no?

If he is recently just been made single then he is probably still getting over his ex and not thinking about dating anyone else. If you like him maybe you could drop him a text and ask him would he like to meet for coffee or lunch?! See how it goes.

He's probably enjoying flirting again. Unless he is clear with you about his feelings I would act as friends only. Boys will totally spill their feelings when they want to. A text out of blue which isn't about work might be a little hint later on. Without that don't assume anything.

Well. what do you think? It's hard to know without being there. What do your friends think, or haven't you asked them?
If he's recently single perhaps e needs recovery time before setting off in a new relationship?
