Giving a V-day card to a crush???

There is this girl in one of my classes that I am interested in. We had a class last semester, so we know each other a little through group activities, but not much beyond that. I got the courage to ask for her phone number to study for a class. But I don't know if she was just being polite about that. To be honest, it would be great to have her as just a friend and get to know her. Anyways, V-day is coming up, and I was wondering if I should get her a card and a piece of chocolate? Nothing that says "I love you!" but more like "Have a Happy Valentine's Day". What are your thoughts?

I have a class with her this semester and talk to her a little each day we have class. Be it might be asking her how she is doing, or how the quiz was for her. I don't know enough about her, but I don't think she has a boyfriend. If she does...then that would be awkward :(

tennisstar88 agony auntWhen was the last time you talked to this girl seeing as you had a class last semester and she gave you her number to study? Do you know if she has a boyfriend?

If it's been since last semester, it would look very random if her study partner sent/gave her a V-Day card and chocolate out of the blue. Even worse if you sent her that and she has a boyfriend. I would find out about that first.

Now, if she doesn't have a boyfriend and you've talked to her say in the past month then go ahead and give/send her a card. Or just simply text her saying "Happy Valentine's Day".
