writes: Hi there, I always seem to get this problem where if I sleep with my partner without a condom I seem to get a funny smell down there after a few days no matter how much I wash. any ideas of what it could be? p.s We have both been checked for STI's and a clear and ni'm on the pill. Any suggestions would be great! THanks x

It could just be the cum, sometimes it takes a while to come out again! And yeah like Uncle Phil said, what's his personal hygiene like? Bad personal hygiene on his part (no pun intended) could also be the cause.

reader, anonymous, writes (29 April 2009): I had that problem a few months ago!! Get yourself checked out, you have a bacterial infection, nothing serious,they will put you on antibiotics and itl be gone withn days!! Dont go to your doctor cos they will refer you, go to a family planning clinic!!

reader, anonymous, writes (29 April 2009): As the female reader before me mentioned, washing too much is also a bad thing. It sounds like yeast infection to me. Get a wide-spectrum antibiotic for yourself and your bf from your local GP, and when washing, try to use a soap free wash, as soap will only worsen the situation.

A bit of 'cheese' behind it can be quite pungent and then you get the funny smell transferred to you if his hygiene is less than perfect. Ejaculate sometimes has a bit of a smell attached to it once it goes off, and if you put the two together that could be your answer.
