writes: Hi I've been seeing my girlfriend now for a few months now and last night we had sex (my first time). The problem was the contraception. I used a condom and both of us found the experience unpleasant. We had foreplay to begin with so she was fairly "wet" yet we both still found it uncomfortable. And I'm sure I put it on properly. Can anyone give any good types of condom (I used durex performa)

Both of you should get tested, agree on monogamy and find a birth control stragety that does not involve condoms. That is the best possibility.

Here are a couple suggestions;
1. Not all Condoms are created equal - they all fit a bit different, and have different lubricants and thicknesses. Many manufacturers put together variety packs taht include sveral different types of condoms. Some stores do the same thing with condoms from different vendors - pick up or oder online a variety of condoms to try, and pick the one you like best.
2. Often times her natural lubricant isn't enough, and any you produce are trapped in the condom - this leads to not enough. Pick up some lubricant (be sure it is safe with the type of condom you are using) and apply it in 2 places:
- on the tip of your penis before putting on the condom. You won't need much (too much could cause the condom to come off) just enough to get your finger tip slippery. This will allow the head of the condom to slide a little bit, giving you a much more natureal feeling.
- on the condom after you have put it on - again paying attention to the head (this is the part that will 'open the door' so needs a little more slip and slide). Again, you don't need to be dripping with lube, but it should feel slippery. With experience you'll know how much to use.
This should make things more comfortable for both of you.
Good luck!

Not tried 'em myself.

I honestly think that you just aren't used to having a condom on. I'm sure that over time you will get more used to them. Please don't feel anxious about this as it is totally normal you know. Maybe it was a bit too small for you and sort of strangling you maybe.
