However, since mid September I can't stop thinking about getting laid! It's like going from zero to sixty in two seconds and its adding stress that I don't need right now. What's going on?

not only this but for sure u wud b feeling many times lonely and irritated too!!
its human nature that the thing we resist most, actually deep down inside us,we need it the most...especially when it comes to sex part...which is seen skeptically socially many a times!!....
if u r prepared enough..get involved into a relationship....thts all upto u to chose one- long term short term or life term!!!...

It's completely natural. A lot of time we can perpetuate that energy with our obsessive thoughts about it. The more we think of it, the more it comes to our thoughts. Can you focus that energy elsewhere? Do you masturbate? Do you have a GF?
I obsessed over losing my virginity and when I finally did, it got worse. I couldn't get enough. My GF at the time joked that it was like the old Pringles slogan, "Once you pop, you just can't stop."
I'd suggest doing your best to redirect that energy. Being excessively horny can lead to bad decisions. Do your best to think with the right head.
