Feelings for my same sex colleague...

Question - (13 February 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 14 February 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I got a job in a shop in town about 5 months ago. 2 of us work in the shop, me and my boss.

I'm openly gay at work and happy with my sexuality and often make jokes about it if someone doesn't think about what they say first.

My boss is 25 and has been in a relationship for 8 years nearly - with a male. It isn't the best relationship in the world, he does nothing round the house and he has no job, smokes drugs and plays games online 247.

Over the 5 months we have become good friends and you could say close. I'm a born joker and love to make to people laugh and she's naturally a giggler, we hit it off instantly when we met! We both like rock music, we are both massive fans of P!nk, we both have family in a band, we both have electrician's for dad's. Her brother even bought me a t shirt saying "I like girls who like girls"!I've been to one of her brother's gig's after she invited me and she always offers me lifts.

Over the past 2 months, I have been deveolping feelings for my boss.

My boss had to have an op last week and she was supposed to be back on the 13th, I was so happy that I was gonna see her today, but she's devolped an infection. I text her to see if was ok and then saw her in the shopping centre and she didn't look well. My heart sank. :o(

It's getting to the point where I want to leave my job as I can't stand being near her without being with her.

What can I do without jeopardising my job and my friendship?

Just like to point out she doesn't have the power to sack me, that's SMT's job.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (14 February 2009):

Hey to be completley honest with you I don't think that you shouls quit but I also don't think that you should try to take that relationship to the next level. I am speaking from experience. I am bisexual and I'm feminie and while at work I'm not open about my true sexuality unless I am asked or I feel that I want to let them know my buisness. But I am out with family and friends. So Anyways, I have dated quite a few ladies that were also bisexual most times in bad relationships with guys and I always would be the one in the end with a broken heart. So just think about it first...
