However, three weeks into dating I found out he is ten years older than me, a huge blow because I am in college. The main issue resides in the fact that he doesn't get along with my sister because she insulted him and he was rude to her. Now my parents, that haven't met him, are refusing to meet him because they think he is abusive (which is fictitious but a perception that is encouraged by my sister). I don't know what to do because both the guy i am seeing and I put a great deal of importance on our family. Since this whole ordeal, he has been acting distant and saying that he is thinking about our relationship. What should I do? Is the difficulty with my family too much of a strain on our relationship? He may be feeling like a family wrecker a bit right now or maybe he is trying to come up with a solution. First off, no man is ever gonna like the guy his daughter is dating, so your father is out right now. But try meeting with your guy and your mother somewhere first. Mothers are more forgiving usually and if he can impress her then she can go back to your dad and get him to give your guy a chance. Your sister can go walk off a pier after that, but she might warm up.
