Even though the condom didn't break and the test came out negative, could I be pregnant?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I had sex for the very first time just over 2 weeks ago. I was 9 days into my cycle. We used an extra safe condom, which we checked after hadnt split and we also tried putting water into it and seeing if any leaked out, which it didnt showing there were no holes at all! I'm normally on every 24 days, and was due on 4 days ago. And no period has came. I'm never late and I never skip a period, so this isn't normal.

I took a pregnancy test yesterday which came out negative, but I'm still really worried why my period hasn't arrived. I'm feeling all the symptons (tender boobs, stomach cramps,) which I get before I'm on, but I haven't come on! Help me please... could I be pregnant even though the condom didn't break and the test came out negative?

I agree with what people have said before me here. The period can be late for a number of reasons, but often stress can cause it to not come at all, or to come too early. It was your first time, and even if you felt relaxed and comfortable with it, it may have caused your body to stress (means you are stressed, but not experiencing "normal" stress symptoms like headaches).

The first time can cause the body to react in different ways, but most of the time the girl will experience a difference in her body. Stomach aches are common, and for the period to come late (or change completely) can also happen.

Condoms are somewhere around 98% safe I think? So relax. You are probably not pregnant. If the period is gone for over a month, contact a doctor to make sure.

You are probably just a bi late because you are stressed.

Go out with your girlfriends, see a very funny movie and stop thinking about it.

You should be fine.

However, you are underage so you should think very carefully about whether you want to risk getting pregnant again. Sex always carries a risk of pregnancy. There is lots and lots of other stuff you can do so why take a chance by doing something that could ruin your life.

Good Luck!! xx

ArmyMedic agony auntYou probably are not pregnant, but you are being so paranoid suggests that you aren't ready for dealing with pregnancy, and therefore shouldn't even be having sex.

Your symptoms could just as easily be stress, but go to a family planning clinic, get on some birth control and find out all you can about babies, sex and STIs.

greg290352 agony auntHi the odds are that because you are stressed your period has not started. Especially when you have the other signs. It's unlikely that you are pregnant. Try and relax and your Period is likely to start. Just make sure you use protection when you have sex again. Maybe go on the Pill.

You shouldn't be pregnant.

Considering that it was your first time, I'm guessing that your late period is due to stress. There's no need to worry if you used the condom the whole time when having sex. So don't worry, your period should be coming pretty soon! :)
