 Yes it is, but have you guys already said you love each other yet? has he said it to you? if yes then go for it if not then just let the gift and the actions do the talking.
Although three months is a good time to really declare you love for each other in words.
Some tips for what blokes like for valentines gifts:
*Magazine subscriptions (favourite mag)
*After shave
*hip flask with yours and his name engraved within a love heart
*zippo lighter (if he smokes)
Chocolate is nice so you can eat it together.
