I was planning on missing the gap between packs so that I won't be on my period while on my holiday, however I have come on my period today. Does smoking effect the way the pill works on the body?

Smoking does not influence the efficiency of the contraceptive pill, but it does significantly increase the risk of side-effects such as blood clots and stroke. I am sure your doctor has already explained this. I used to smoke in my teens and early 20's and I am sure it contributed to my diagnosis of thyroid disorder and insulin resistance at 26. I am sure you are already hooked on the weed, but you need to think about quitting as smoking can really get hold of you. I found quitting to be murder but I look at my mother in law who smokes 60 a day and she looks like a walking coughing corpse and smells just as bad. As for your current situation, my guess is that you may have forgotten to take one of your pills and that is why you started bleeding, or maybe you had some tummy upset. I suggest you consult your GP before your holiday because you may not be adequately protected against pregnancy and may need to take additional precautions.

Well in a way...
Smoking makes you stink. So boys won't want you, so you won't need to worry about the pill.
Always use condoms.
Good Luck!! xx
