Re: Comment by "Lazyguy".
I did NOT say it was safer, although it may well be. I said you are less likely to catch anything through oral sex but that currently more diseases are passed this way because people aren't as careful.
And that's official. As I said, the source of the data is from NHS Direct.
Quote:
* "oral sex is generally safer than unprotected (that is, without a condom) vaginal or anal sex"
* "for most infections, being given (receiving) oral sex is probably safer than giving oral sex because you are less likely to be exposed to genital fluids"

Susan Strict is wrong in thinking oral sex is safer. It isn't not least because your mouth is far more likely to have small wounds (to small to see and you never notice them) in your mouth. It after all sees far more abuse then your vagina unless you got some really odd habbits. Like sticking forks into it.
So use a condom. Best to just avoid as much skin contact with the others bodily fluids as possible if you ain't sure.
Most people do not and that is why STD's are still on the rise.
Now don't get too paranoid either, don't let it stop you from having fun but do please use a condom. And hey, with it he can come in your mouth and you don't have to deal with the taste. Win-win. If he complains about it reducing the feeling, well tell him it is this way or no way.

So take precautions as if you would during regular sex.

The summary is that you might be less likely to catch something nasty from oral sex than from conventional sex, BUT there are a number of diseases, some of them very nasty, that you can get from oral sex.
Most common diseases caught through oral sex are:
chlamydia, gonorrhoea, genital herpes, and syphilis
Less commonly, you can get:
HIV, hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C
Currently, according to UK NHS statistics, more of these diseases are passed by oral sex than by anything else - probably because many people think they can't be caught this way and therefore aren't as careful.
