Does my girlfriend's friend fancy me?

Question - (12 October 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 14 October 2009)
A male United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I have been in a relationship with my current girlfriend for about 6 years now and although we are happy i keep getting mixed feelings about her friend.

Her friend has a boyfriend who i am starting to get on with really well and although i have no intentions of acting on my feelings for this girl i would still like to know if she fancies me or if its just my ego.

Firstly i will start by saying this girl is gorgous, she doesnt realise it at all and is so critical of herself but is one of the nicest, genuine people i have ever met.

The reasons i am starting to think she fancies me are these.

Firstly she is always commenting on my clothes or the way i stye my hair, or how i leave my stubble growing for a few days telling her boyfriend he should do the same. If i cut my hair short she always comments on how i should leave it long as it looks a lot better.

Secondly when we talk to each other one on one she often kinda goes all smirky and nervous.

Thirdly when she knows i fancy someone on TV she always seems to have bad words to say about them and seems really interested in what it is i like about them.

Other things that are makling me think she fancies me are once when we all went out drinking she jumped on my shoulders and commented how strong i was and also tried to massage me. My girlfriend saw this and mentioned it to her friends girlfriend and she said she couldnt remember doing so and her boyfriend was a little shocked sayhing that she never massaged him

There are other little things, like she is always commenting why her boyfriend doesnt look as toned as me although we both work out together as well as other things.

I know what my mind and the male mind can be like, its normal to "Want" to beleive someone fancies you but i would like to know what other people think about this, male and female. Am i just seeing what i want or does she really fancy me ?

As i said i do not plan on acting on it i just want to know if she does fancy me or im looking too much into it

Sounds like physical attraction to me! I've behaved very similarly with my crushes in the past. Decide what you want! :)

A female reader, anonymous, writes (12 October 2009):

I would say from the examples you've mentioned, that she does fancy you - or at the very least, is physically attracted to you and likes your style. Not sure how long this girl has been with her boyfriend, but maybe she isn't quite as attracted to him as she once was, and in turn has started to notice you...

Question is, although you aren't going to do anything about it - do you also fancy her? It sounds as though you do, so tread carefully with your girlfriend and don't let anything become too obvious!!

She probably has a crush. But seriously don't go there, just because it's available to you doesn't mean you should go after it, as you said, just don't act on it.
