A reader, anonymous, writes (3 March 2020):

I'd take a pause, tilt my head, squint, and ask..."what's up with you? Why am I getting weird signals? I'm not sure how to take you sometimes!"

Put him on the spot. If you're reading him wrong, now is his opportunity to offer you some clarity.

I'm not much of an advocate for flipping platonic to romantic-relationships; because most don't go well. Mature-folk don't usually play these games; so you may as well ask if he's getting mushy on you?

Hopefully you're both single?

A female reader, Honeypie United States +, writes (1 March 2020):

Honeypie agony auntYou are in your 30's, YOU tell us...

We don't have a crystal ball and we don't know you or him.

The question is this though, Is he married? If he is, ignore his flirtatious behavior.

And are YOU single or married?

If he is single, then consider this, would you really want to get involved with someone you work with? What if it down the line don't work out?

The work place is not the place for romance, YOU are old enough to know that.

You also call him your best friend, maybe he is just being friendly?
