reader, anonymous, writes (29 May 2011): Well there isn't much of a description of the guy here however best thing you can do for a while is to see how he treats other people or try find hints of what he was like with other girls,
If he's saying he loves you when drunk why won't he say it sober?
It seems more to be lust rather than love with him considering he wished he slept with you, if he did just love you he'd just want to be with you not have sex with you
So find out a few facts about his previous love life before getting involved

When I said it what I meant was:"I wish our relationship had taken a romantic turn and that we slept together when we had the chance. Maybe we can make up for that now."What emotions were behind your friend's comment I cannot say. He might be a bold-faced liar after an easy lay. He might genuinely regret some things that happened in the past and be asking for a do-over, like I did. No matter what, this is a sexually charged comment and he's testing you to see how interested you are based on your response. In my case, she said she also wished we had slept together and so ultimately we did. When things finally played out and the new relationship fizzled I lost a friend in the end. Maybe our first instincts (not to sleep together) were good.

I'm going to pick your final point - he's after an easy lay.
If he'd said, when sober, he wished that you'd started a relationship when you'd had the chance, then there might have been something there.
But when a guy says he wished he'd has sex with you when he'd had the chance, well, that shows all was interested in was getting his way.
Avoid.
