Does he sound like a shy guy?

A female , anonymous writes:

I am in my 40s and have just recently become friendly with a school dad.

I sort of knew about him at school (he is a single dad), chatted briefly to him at a party last year and hadn't spoken since.

He didn't really acknowledge me and then I gave his son a lift one night and he said he would reciprocate which he did.

My son then started football with his son but he still didn't really talk to me and still seemed distant. Then three weeks ago he came up to me and asked about football as he wasn't there and the next day I messaged him about football and decided to add him as a friend on facebook which he accepted.

After that he started chatting more, realised I had had a major operation and told me to look after myself and to take it carefully and helped me out with lifts for my son and each time he sees me asks if I am alright and starts having a chat to me and said he is more than happy to help out with lifts for each other.

He is a lovely guy and wonder if he is a shy person until someone starts to chat to him but my friend who lives next door to him says sometimes he chats and other times he ignores her.

Does he sound like a shy person or maybe that someone that has felt lonely as I think its nice that he wants to chat to me.

I've gotta agree with Denizen. I don't think that this guy sounds particularly shy. It could be that he has lots of good friends already and isn't particularly interested in pursuing any more. But that doesn't stop him from being friendLY when required.

A male reader, Denizen United Kingdom +, writes (7 February 2017):

Denizen agony auntNo he doesn't sound like a shy guy. He sounds like a man who likes his own company. He isn't unfriendly, but he likes to chose when and to whom he chats.

If he wants to talk to you then he will in his own time.
