Does he like me or is it just the drink??

A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Complicated...

Here's the situation I've known this guy through his mom for like 6 years. (I work with his mom) We are friends.

We hung out last year for a concert and we ended up making out (we were both drinking). I think we both have a crush on each other but we are both afraid to make light of the situation because I am friends with his mom and like part of the family. We call/text each other occasionally both when we are sober and when drinking.

Well we went to a concert recently in which his parents, my mom and a bunch of friends were there. Well...we were dancing, drinking, having fun...and we kissed...numerous times.

Do you think he likes me or was it the alcohol talking? Because would he kiss me in front of all of those people if he didn't have some type of feelings for me? Does alcohol bring out true feelings?

Please Help!

A male reader, Dazzerg United Kingdom +, writes (14 June 2007):

Dazzerg agony auntI think alcohol removes peoples inhibitions and that is why it appears to 'bring out true feelings'. So, in this case it would appear that your friend is actually attracted to you but is too shy/possibly scared of rejection/ to act on the attraction when sober but obviously when drunk all those inhibitions are gone and et voila you are kissing.

I think the best way forward is maybe to try and arrange a 'date' but maybe not call it that and see how it goes then maybe try and talk about how you are feeling at the end. Assuming that is, from what you have written here, that you share the attraction and would maybe like something more? Hope that helps. Good luck.
