A female United Kingdom age 41-50, *herrymango writes:

so I have been talking to a man online for around six months now. We know each other through mutual friends and get along like a house on fire. We both have a tendancy to.flirt with each other and other people but talky every night to one another before bed. Recently he bought me a camera as he knew I wanted one yet couldn't afford one. It is an expensive model. He doesnt usually do this to people!

He is in his fifties and I in my late twenties. He is divorced and I am in an on off relationship with my childrens father. basically we stayed together for the kids. He has listened to all my problems and always been there for me. we have never met as we live 200 miles apart. Does he just like me as a friend or is he interested? We do talk in a sexual way but at the same time lighthearted.

eyeswideopen agony auntHow well do you know him? Do you plan to ever meet face to face? Are you sure he's divorced? Do you think you should have accepted an expensive gift from him? Isn't it kind of weird and creepy that a guy in his 50's is chatting up someone in their 20's? Are you married to your children's father? Does he know you are talking with this guy every night? Is staying in your relationship/marriage just for the kid's sake enough for you? I can think of lots of questions that are way more important at the moment than whether this old guy just likes you for your friendship or not.
