He isn't really a good guy (I'm sure he does drugs; he did the last time I checked) but he's been nice to me in the past and I think he's an o.k. person. Last year he defended me when people were making false accusations about me. Does he like me? We are not friends, but were not enemies either. By the way, I'm in middle school, so this would be based on a 14-year-old boy's personality. Please help!

reader, anonymous, writes (7 May 2009): It is hard to tell, hon. He may like you, but a "crush" may not be the word for it. Maybe he would like to be friends, but, be careful. If he is into drugs, you do not want to get seriously involved with him. It would just cause problems for you and give others more reason to talk about you. It is fine to be friendly, but you don't have to lead him to think it is more than that. Many boys will want to be "more than friends" with you as time goes by. Take care.
