Does Facebook work this way?

Question - (15 August 2010) 2 Answers - (Newest, 16 August 2010)
A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I like this guy, and I never found out his last name, but I finally found him on Facebook, and I was pretty much freaking out to my friend, because earlier, I didn't know who he was, and I am just so excited now.

Anyways, I still haven't added him on Facebook, because we only talked for a little while, and I feel like he didn't even know my name... I'm not sure. (I work at a camp, and my friends kept saying my name, so I'm pretty sure he heard it.)And on his profile I can see his wall, send him a message, poke him, and look at his pictures.

But my friend, who also doesn't have him as a friend, can only see his wall and send him a message. Then she told me that he could've looked at my photos, and that's why I can see his photos. Can Facebook work that way? If so that gives me hope of him liking me.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (16 August 2010):

Do you have friends in common with him but your friend does not? If so his privacy could be set to allow friends of friends to see certain things while others cannot.

Sometimes FB is just wishy washy in how things work. I've set pictures so that only I could view them and I'd check privacy preview to see how a certain person sees my profile to later learn that my "hidden" pictures were still viewable.

All and all, I don't think that his having viewed your profile determines what you can see on his profile.

It does not work that way. Compare your friends and your privacy settings? You can view people if they are in the same network as you, e.g a college or school, even if you are not direct friends with them
