I think people get attached if there are genuine emotions involved, even if it's not your first time. Getting attached has nothing to do with virginity.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 August 2013): well, I certainly have, men always want to be their first one and hopefully the only one. in my opinion I would say yes if the relationship is legit. there's is a strong bond when there is real love. I was on a relationship with a girl for about 5 years and I was her first one, sadly it ended up badly but I was very attached to her. I'm 35 now and I had the luck of finding an awesome girl a couple of years ago, I was her first and we have a strong bond. I'd like to marry her. ;)
