I went to my local supermarket and bought a clear blue digital one and this one came out pregnant and said 2-3 weeks. That Friday I went to the doctors and they told me that I was 5 weeks pregnant due to the date of my last period.Anyway my main concern is the doctor didn't even do any tests or examine me or anythin she just took my word for it and booked me in with a midwife. When I went to see the midwife a few days ago she did no tests or anythin either. They didn't even feel my belly. Is this normal??Please reply as I'm very concerned

I think it was at my 8 week scan that they decided on an official time line based on the babies size. That said, I happened to know the exact date my son was concieved (was hardly getting any of the ex so it was memorable and not mistakable for another date lol) and they had their timing out 6 days, ... and then he was born two weeks early anyway. It's not an exact science.

This is normal. Though gestation is pure science, doctors rely on patient information to guess the conception date. These dates will change when you begin having ultrasounds. And it is not uncommon for a doctor to adjust your due date throughout your pregnancy.
Good Luck!

I trust they did a blood test to confirm your pregnancy? Not examining you would be normal. They usually do an ultrasound at about 12 weeks. They can only go by the date of your last period until the fetus develops. Then they can get a better idea based on developmental stage.
But also darling please -- if you are concerned about anything the doctors or midwives are or aren't doing you need to speak up and ask those questions. It's all well and good to bring your concerns here but if you are pregnant then you need to be comfortable with the people providing you care - so even if you think the questions are dumb ask anyway! They are there for YOU.
