Well you are working full time hours so talk to your supervisor and ask her to explain how the shifts are going to work.
If you need the cash though I recommend you work as many shifts as you can. Get yourself used to work and then ask to cut down your hours when you are not so desperate for cash.
Good Luck!! xx

Yep that's entirely average.
In the ambulance service, you do 4 days of 12 hour day shifts, then 4 days off, then 4 days of 12 hour night shifts.
You'll find it really hard at first but then you'll get used to it. It's just a matter of getting used to the job and getting fit enough to carry on for that long. You need to build up your stamina.
The good news is that you are young and this is only your first job. Once you get some qualifications behind you then you can get a better job and not have to work like this.
Good Luck!! xx

Anyway...
I guess you've got 12 hour shifts for 4 days, then the 3 days off? 48 hours is more than enough hours for full time work. I think that shift isn't too bad if you do have the other 3 off, better than 8 hours everyday! It may feel exhausting now as you haven't worked much before, but you'll soon get used to it. Try going to bed earlier so you're not as tired the next day.
Oh, and I don't think it's unfair, didn't they tell you the shift patterns when they told you you got the job? If so they probably should have told you then, but work is work and if you can't do those hours they'll soon find someone else who will. Be glad you've got a job!
