writes: hi i was recently over at my boyfriends who's 26 house and his mother who had been out that night came home a bit drunk and decided to have a chat with me when my boyfriend left the room... she told me that she didnt think that we were well suited as a couple and asked me what my plans for the future were with him! im not the most comfortable of people around others so i didnt really know what to say. do you think that she doesnt approve of me or like me? why else would she point out that she thought we werent suited. wev been together for two years and are quite happy... she is quite an intelligent and knowledgeable person so she's almost making me question whether we are suited together!!

Only you two know your relationship. Just because his mother says that, doesn't mean you have to second guess yourself.
It's easier said than done however, just let it ride. Tell your boyfriend what she'd mention to you.

She was also very drunk when she came out with all this stuff. Sometimes when we're drunk we're the most honest we've ever been. Other times we say seriously stupid things and really regret them the next day. The only thing that's important in this situation though is how you feel. Do you love your boyfriend? Do you think you're well suited to him? If yes then don't worry about his mum. While it's preferable that she likes you it's not the end of the world if she doesn't. My mother's parents hate my dad but they've just had to learn to get along. The most important thing is him and you.
