I received a call from my counselor, who told me that I was going to be taken off the graduation list if I don't get my act together soon. The school has been notified about my emergencies.I am not the best student, I do not have straight A's; however, I do bring my school high test scores. I have never scored anything below proficient in any subject. I enjoy learning, but high school seems so dull to me. I've been in college classes and I love the teaching! I can't exactly put my finger on it, but I honestly don't think high school was 'meant' for someone like me.I live in California by the way, and I understand California has an alternative close to that of a diploma and a GED. I talked to my mother about it and my sister, and they agreed it would probably be better for our circumstances to drop high school and take my GED test. I am confident that I will pass it.I'm surprised the two people I told took it well. Especially my mother. HOWEVER, I have not told my boyfriend..My boyfriend is someone that I hope to spend the rest of my life with. As odd as this sounds coming from someone my age group, I honestly do feel as if we were fated to be together. Soul mates. I will be meeting his mother this July, and was worried that I let it slip out that I took a GED over a high school diploma, she'd think less of me.His family is very accomplished while my family.. isn't so much. I love him and he loves me and I know for sure he'll support my decision. So I guess my question is.Do you think it's demeaning for someone to have a GED instead of a high school diploma?

Quite to the contrary.... anyone who perseveres to a GED after circumstances have kept them from getting a "regular" HS diploma, via "regular:" channels is to be applauded.....
Go for it, hold your chin up high and say, "This is how I did it and I'm proud of myself for having accomplished this...."
Good luck....
