You should probably see your doc if you hve a long term bowel problem, but if you do decide to buy them and you can get them over the counter btw, just bare this in mind. Laxtive r not an answer to long term problem and if you use them continuously it can make ur bowels lazy and it cud get to the point where you may never b able to open your bowels without them, again!

I agree with Aunty BimBim. Laxatives at your age are a bad idea unless you desperately (like seriously desperately) need them. Have you tried some cod liver oil or prune juice? Make sure you're getting enough fiber in your diet, eating whole grains, fruits, and veggies (especially leafy greens) and that will make the whole system healthier.
If you decide you really something that strong, like for a one time deal, you should talk to the pharmacist (or is it called chemist over there?) and he/she can recommend something.

In about 2004 I just walked into Boots and bought some off the shelf. Not sure if things have changed since then! It was kinda awkward at the till, but you're never going to see that person again anyway! Probably.....

Be careful with laxatives --- they are available over the counter but talk to a nurse or doctor before you start taking them on a too regular basis at your age. Simple and more natural ways to get things moving include liquorish, drinking more water, eating two apples a day, even one might do it for you, prunes with your breakfast, sprinkle a spoon of bran on your cereal each morning etc etc.
Laxatives cause the nerve endings within your bowel to be stimulated so much so that you need to go to the toilet. Waste located within the large intestine are then expelled. They interfer with the normal functions of the nerve and muscles. Over use of laxatives can also cause your colon to lose its mucous membrane. You become more susceptible to getting infection as your immune system shuts down. You are also more prone to getting irritable bowel syndrome and bowel tumors due to laxative abuse.
