We did not have sex and there was almost no sexual touching - only a bit of fingering by me and I may have touched my penis after having done so, can't really remember now. Anyway, the girl made me go for a blood test and it came back as negative for HSV 1 but positive for HSV 2 (the primary cause of genital, rather than oral, herpes). It was a reasonably low-positive result (2.79) but I'm now pretty worried that I've got herpes. I've only had one sexual partner previously, for five years, and we were both virgins when we met and I know she never went with anyone else whilst with me. It seems very unlikely that I could've possibly got genital herpes therefore, and have had no lesions, but if not, why the positive test result and the other symptoms? I really hope I've not got it. Anyone got any ideas?

She would have had other sexual partners in order to get it.

The herpes virus can lay dormant for years near your spine, it is really difficult to pinpoint the person who gave it to you or how you got it, and you may never have any symptoms or you could have an outbreak when your immune system is run down.
The best person to explain this to you is your doctor though, that is their job to explain the test results to you and answer all of your questions, so please call your doctor where you got the test and ask those questions.
We can't really diagnose you over the internet, and if you have symptoms of a UTI, you really should see a doctor for that as well.
