They don't seem like blisters and haven't popped like the website said they would. Also I have gotten sick and it feels like the flu. The website also said a sign of herpes is flu-like sypmtoms. Also my boyfriend had a cold sore recently which is a form of herpes and he performed oral sex on me (we didn't know it was a cold sore at the time). It is rare but you can recieve herpes from oral sex while the person has a cold sore- is what I read. I am very scared. I want to know if anyone else has genital herpes and can tell me what it is like to have to live with, and if all I just said really is genital herpes or I'm just being a hypochondriac? I will go to my gynecologist soon but I wanted to hear from anyone out there who has it. Thanks in advanced.

"If you wait until they are cleared up then you will probably have to wait at least 3 months for a blood test to be accurate. That's because it takes that long for the antibodies to show up in the blood. A negative test in less than 3 months could easily be a false negative."
Thats not true. It takes herpes 2-20 days to show symptoms. If your having symptoms, its already in your system which can be detected in your antibodies. So get tested asap!

I only had the initial outbreak in May when I was disgnosed and it felt awful although it looked no way near as bad as it does on the internet. I had swabs and a blood test which confirmed I had it. So far I have not had any more reactions but I feel like I am carrying the worse disease ever but am trying to deal with the psychological effects of having it. Let us know how the results and If you need someone to talk to I will send you a personal email.

If you do have genital HSV-1, then it will not be as severe as genital HSV-2. If you have blisters then they can test the secretions from the blisters to determine if it is herpes and which type. This is the most accurate. If you wait until they are cleared up then you will probably have to wait at least 3 months for a blood test to be accurate. That's because it takes that long for the antibodies to show up in the blood. A negative test in less than 3 months could easily be a false negative.
