Even though I have invested almost 8 yrs with this man and lived with him and helped pay for bills with him, aren't I entitled to something? They say after 7 yrs of living with someone it is considered common law marriage, even though he is still legally married? and that if i decide to leave him for this bullcr-- Im going through with his divorce issues, wouldn't at all be able to get anything from him other than agrivation? I bet not huhh? I always have bad luck LOL

Hi there, You might want to contact a contract lawyer, I have heard the same thing about the seven year common law marriage connection. But you must let someone who knows the laws of your state tell you what rights you would have under certain circumstances. Someone who works at your City Hall, who takes pro bono (free) cases may be able to give you the information you need. Or your public library should have information on the same legal issues. Call your library, they sometimes research issues for people. It is a state by state matter. Good luck and take care.
