Do I do him a favour and remove myself from the situation? Or see him anyway?

A female United States age , *sahowler writes:

I have recently reconnected with a friend from high school forty years ago. We have hit it off through email and on the phone and I was planning on visiting him in June. Recently his son has been in trouble and his Mom is not in good health and these things are taking up his time as they should be.

Should I tell him that I won't be coming to see him so that he can focus on his family and what he has going on? I'm trying to take some pressure off of him but don't want him to be offended that I won't be coming to see him right now.

ArmyMedic agony auntIf you don't go he may think that you are "put off" by his problems and to be honest your visit maybe the one good thing that's going to happen to him in some time.

Just food for thought
