writes: Do men prefer 'bad girls'? I was with my boyfriend for many years. I am stable, responsible and a decent person and he walked over me a bit I think. His new girlfriend is a bit of a wild one and he is going to court next month because she called the police on him and she is a drinking buddy for him which I never could be. He is having more fun I guess and is certainly more besotted with her. I was pretty good to him but this girl is more his type...no question. Do guys prefer the live on the edge type girls? reader, anonymous, writes (14 August 2006): Anonymous - put this down to his preference as an individual, not as what guys want generally. I think whilst you were going out with him there were probably signs there that made you wonder if he was right for you?
He is probably just less mature than you are. It's exactly the same as girls who choose "bad" guys - they are too immature to see that those bad qualities will not make for a successful, long term relationship.
Don't feel like you are at fault, I would love to meet a "stable, responsible and decent" girl, you seem to be pretty rare, in my opinion!

 My experience has been that generally guys are attracted to 'bad girls', but it's because they perceive them to be easier to have sex with (and many men are on the lookout for easy sex). They'll see the 'bad girls' as 'hot' and want to have sex with them, but the relationships are much less likely to last. The same guys will prefer a more chaste girl for long term relationships. It's the double standard in action.

Best revenge: Move on, be happy, find someone who can love and appreciate who you are and who makes you want to be a better person...he is out there.
