For example say i got my girlfriend a gift to make her happy like a box of chocolates lol, for me, seeing her happy makes me happy say for the rest of the day, but would she keep this is a mind for a longer period?

yep, most of us women do keep a lot of gifts received, not because they're expensive. I for one keep my daughter's drawings when she was 5 as it reminds me how she struggled to show her love for me in pictures.
It may sound like an old cliche, but really for most of us, it's the thought that counts.

But, I have been an "Uncle" for a long, long time here...and I have reached the point where I have decided to give the most honest answers I have, regardless of how "popular" they are. I won't make any attempt to be "touchy-feely", unless it is a really honest and sincere feeling. So, watch Friend Tom start dropping in points. I am starting my calculator now. I am down from 7.69 to 7.48 in the last week. (lol)

Friend Tom you are being obnoxious.
What do you mean by a cultural scam?
I was literally born with a silver spoon in my mouth.I got everything that I wanted for and more.
I lost interest in all things materialistic.
I know that happiness doesn't come from the gifts I receive. Its in the personalized love card my husband gives me.
Friend Tom you are also generalizing women."They are not more romantic"?.Have you studied each and every woman alive in this world?

The emotional moments that have stayed on with me have depended on the person who created them.
I value the thought behind the gift.I don't remember the gifts as such.
I would remember a moonlit walk under the stars than a box of chocolates.
As Emporessmystique rightly says, every girl is different.

A
reader, anonymous, writes (6 December 2008): It is really a cultural scam, anon. (wink) Women are more "verbally communicative" than men. They are not more romantic. Most of a man's attractiveness to a woman are because of what he can give them, or his potential for giving them. "Gift giving" is a way of showing a female that you are a "good hunter and provider". Women's "emotions" are really very primitive. More than you would guess at your age. She may sweeten up to you because you provide security..and goodies, but she will still hump the captain of the football team, or would like to, because he has "good genes", physically speaking. DNA testing has opened up a new field in human sexual behavior. It is estimated that as much as twenty-five percent of men in the UK are raising kids that they thought were theirs...but were sired by somebody else.....What do you think the stats are in Australia? The figures are not in yet on the U.S. and Canada.
