We've been good friends since then and only recently been flirting back and forth since last summer. He actually initiated the flirting (I honestly considered him a good friend who was cute; nothing serious). But since his flirting made me feel good, I started to flirt back. The flirting escalated around Christmas when we met for coffee - we actually eye gazed for several seconds and said the next time I'm in town (I live several states away) we can just meet at his house. The question is, in the back of my mind, I keep thinking he might be gay (by the way he talks and acts). Of course those clues alone don't automatically make somebody gay and of course it is something I would never ask him as it's really personal and none of my business. But it does make sense since he is now ignoring me (going on three months now). My question is do gay guys flirt with girls? Or does he actually have feelings for me/is attracted to me? Because I just want us to be friends; nothing more.

reader, anonymous, writes (18 February 2009): some gay men flirt with women, consider it somewhat of a personality trait that quite alot of gays have.
he could be also be completely straight and just be attracted to you. maybe he came to a realization that he might have feelings for you.
as for his 3 month disappearance; (my realization theory) maybe he realized he liked you, and then thought of the distance between the two of you, and chose to end the relationship then and there to prevent a long road of disappointment and hurt.
