Undisclosed agony auntCondoms are sold in different sizes. Ignore the description on the front. Read the back of the box instead. Condom sizes, like shoes sizes, differ between countries and brands.

A Manix “Natural” is 53 mm. A Manix “King Size” is 54 mm. Durex “Regular” is 56 mm. Durex XL is 57 mm. A Trojan “Magnum Large” is 58 mm. The description on the front of the box doesn’t mean anything. You can buy them at pharmacies, convenience stores and some supermarkets.

Find the SIZE: Your boyfriend should buy a bunch of different sizes and find out which one is right for his girth.

Find the right SHAPE: Some have a bulb at the top if he needs more room there. They’re also easier to get on. Remember that he has to completely unravel it all the way down to the base of the penis so that it stays on.

Find the right TYPE: Most of the fancy styles are nothing but gimmicks but have fun and try them out if you want. Asides from latex condoms, there are two other TYPES.

(1) Sheepskin or old-fashioned natural condoms are completely ineffective and should be avoided in your case.

(2) Non-latex condoms are more expensive and harder to put on because they don’t stretch and only come in one size. You buy these if your partner is allergic to latex or is using an oil-based lubricant or cream. Some prefer these condoms because they are thinner and conduct heat more easily than latex.

Take care.

A reader, anonymous, writes (3 May 2009):

In the past they only came in what was considered a "normal" size. Now they come in basically 4 sizes. Most types are still the normal or average size, but there is now small, average, large and extra large. They come smooth and with various ribbed types. They come in normal thickness and thin. The thin allow for more sensitivity for the guy, but might break more easily. If you want the thin then I would recommend the urethane ones, as they are stronger than latex. Start out with the average size and then go up or down from there. Ones that are a little larger also give the guy more sensitivity if they are not too large and won't stay on.
