My boyfriend tends to be a hard thruster (he's not huge though) and I didn't realize it hurt until afterwards. I felt bad cramps for about a week and bled some and it still hurts a little when my b.f. penetrates me too hard. I'd like to continue to use the sponge because of it's convenience but even though I followed the directions I'm wondering maybe I put the sponge in wrong or not deep enough? Does anyone use the sponge, do you have any advice on how to put it in right? Reply to this Question Share |

It doesn't sound like the problem is with the sponge but maybe you have an abrasion inside that's becoming irritated or maybe even an STI which can cause bleeding. It's possible that the sponge caused the abrasion or your boyfriend or any number of other things. My advice would be to lay off sex for three days to a week and see if you bleed next time you have sex. If you do go and see your doctor or the nurse at the family planning clinic and explain your concerns. They should be able to tell you what's wrong.
