A male reader, oldgerald Australia +, writes (1 February 2011):

oldgerald agony auntYou're still a virgin, toys, fruit and vegetables, hand tools etc don't count. You have to have a penis inside you to qualify as a non-virgin.

Hymens can break for all sorts of reasons, sports or accidents.

If you are saving your virginity for someone special, make sure he is.

In the meantime have fun with toys etc, and put a condom on them if you don't know where they've been...

Yes dont worry you are still a virgin. You only lose your virginity when a penis enters the vagina.

A reader, anonymous, writes (4 December 2008):

Oh gawd the old "if you use tampons u will lose your hymen" rumor. I use tampons all the time. Still have it. As I have said before, it depends on what type of hymen you have. Don't sweat it.

You know back in the old biblical days, females were judged on their worth based on their hymens. This was a stupid patriarchal system made up by stupid old men.

If you have not had sex, you are still a virgin, so says coolnurse.com. Take care.

ok so I went throught this too except with tampons. If you break your hymen yourself then yes you are still a virgin. if you use tampons then you would have probly broken it anyway but if you are having sex with someone and they notice they dont break it and they ask who you have had sex with just tell him I use tampons and that broke my hymen.

Always love

thatgothgirl20 agony auntIf it was a little blood, and it went in pretty deep, it could be blood from your cervix, not your hymen.

A reader, anonymous, writes (2 December 2008):

If you're accustomed to pleasuring yourself with toys you probably wont feel as much pain, oppose to if you don't; because your "entry hole" will be tight. However you may not always know what you'll feel until you do it. It also matters on the size of his manhood. But the bleeding will stop... it should.

I hope I helped =)

A reader, anonymous, writes (2 December 2008):

To me masturbation isn't sex, so you're still technically a virgin. It is very possible the blood you saw was your hymen break. Unless you use toys to pleasure yourself all the time, most likely you'll remain 'tight'. Thats not necessary a bad thing.

Not every virgin bleeds when they have sex, so don't worry about it. Just be comfortable, honest with the guy you choose to lose it to. Make sure the special guy is exactly that 'special'. You don't want any regrets.

A female reader, deejuliet United States +, writes (2 December 2008):

deejuliet agony auntYou may or may not have broken your hymen, but you are most definately still a virgin. Hymen presence has nothing whatsoever to do with virginity. Hymens are often broken due to tampons or vigourous activity. Virginity is lost when you have sexual intercourse with a man for the first time. If you have not had sex, you are still a virgin.
