A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I decided to reconnect with some of my old friends and a guy called george and i decided to go out in the summer ... we werent that close but he is really sweet. we spoke on the phone and we started texting every day but then the text got flirty with him asking what i would do if he kissed me. he asked whats the worst i had done to a guy but i told him to change the subject. he told me he was clean and he was really sweet.

One day i texed him saying that i had bad network connection and i might not reply his texts early and he replied saying "i lost your number, sorry who is this?", i was in shock and i replied saying it was me and he didnt text back. i dont know if its a big deal.. i have decided not to text until he texts back . but i dont know if he actually lost my number or if it was an intentional delete. i dont know but this guy is my life long friend.

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (20 July 2010):

DrPsych agony auntI honestly think he was looking for a sex-by-text buddy as the communications were heading in that direction. If he didn't know who you were when you sent him a text then he is a player who has multiple girls on the go. Alternatively he deleted your number on purpose because you didn't meet his requirements - a sexual conversation and more. Whatever the explanation for his behaviour, it is not the work of someone who is sweet and nice...he is just pretending to be that to get girls.

TimmD agony auntGuys will never lose numbers to girls they really like or want. I think he's trying to tell you something by playing dumb and not answering you back....
