writes: Hi, I would like advice on how to help someone who thinks they have a depression. My ex told me suddenly that he was feeling depressed, lonely, felt like he had "forgotten" or "lost" himself, his friends tell me that he seems sad/depressed. I'm wondering if this really is a depression (or starting depression) or if he is just despairing? Maybe the typical teenage "I don't know who I am"? Anyway I was shocked about hearing this and I hate knowing that he feels this way. Is it really a depression, and what can I do to help him? Thanks in advance

How can I cheer him up if he doesn't want any help? When he's with people he can put a smile on his face and ACT happy, even though he's not. I feel horrible knowing that he's given up (not to the point where he's suicidal) but that he's just accepted it, I want to make him happy again and see the good things in life. Help please!

Your friend has given in to the depressions power, cheer him up. Tell him hes important to you and all your friends but at the end of it HES the one thats got to over come it.
All the best xx
