We've been in a relationship for over 3 years. We've had our ups and downs but for the most part we've been pretty good and happy. We have a house and pets together. Is it wrong for me to want to know where its going? I told him I wanted to get married like yesterday and hav kids really soon. I feel like something is wrong with me and im asking too much. Help!!!

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (7 February 2010):

You've rushed into some pretty big stuff if you've only been together 3 years. Most people would get a commitment BEFORE they got into a massive joint debt.

Just start taking him past ring shops and pointing out ones you like and don't like.

Talk about the future and how "After we get married, I'd like to do X Y and Z..."

Just keep dropping those hints like women have done for 3000 years or so. Then, if he hasn't proposed in 12 months time then tell him you realise he is never going to do it and break up with him.

He'll be back with a ring within the week, OR he'll not bother, in which case you are free to sell up and start again knowing you want marriage and kids and are not going to wait 3 years for your next guy to propose.

Good Luck!! xx
