Question - (12 May 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 13 May 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've been going out with my boyfriend for a month now. We've been in a difficult situation together because before we went out, he went out out with my ex-best friend (who was my "best friend" at the time) and she played with his feelings a lot, and broke up with him more than once every time she got her period. They broke up in November/ December, but she was always mentally and emotionally cheating on him. We never talked seriously or even paid any attention to each other. We got to know each other a little bit after and started to share our hurtful experiences with the ex best friend. She always made me feel like I wasn't good enough at anything and that she was better than me.

So my bf and I started going to the movies together and other places, and got to know each other much better than before, un tl he asked me out on march 29th, and I said yes because I had feelings for him. The problem is that now, every time I see him, I don't feel anything but I dont want to break up with him because his parents and my parents love the idea and they will be devastated if we do. I've already told him all my real feelings towards him and he knows, but I don't know what else to do. Another problem is our age difference. I'm 16 and he's currently 14 going on 15 in September but is more mature than someone his age. I need help please!

kellyxxx agony auntYou need to break up with him, I'm sure your parents would rather you be happy than to stay with someone who you don't have feelings for. Ask the boyfriend if its possible to just be friends. I'm sure your parents will understand, you could even write them a quick note explaining that the two of you have decided to just be friends. X
