Now we have recently found out that we may be related (although I think it's distant). It has really become our concern since his relatives are talking about it so much. We cannot even really prove we are related. He is really the one I see me spending my life with. What should we do?

you could always do a little family history to determine if you are related. there are alot of internet sites available that can help you both trace your ancestors, or alternatively, your local mormon church will help without any questions.
even if you are distantly related, it is not against the law to spend your life with the person you love. enjoy being together and i wish you all the best

If he is not your first cousin I don't think you have anything to worry about. It's only relationships between first cousins that is illegal in some states. Find out how close you are and if you are really worries talk to a priest/pastor/doctor.
