Dating a colleague with a history of despression. Should I listen to my family?

Tagged as: Dating<< Previous question   Next question >>
Question - (14 November 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 14 November 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I am 24 and have made friends with a guy at work. He is three years younger than me and we seem to get on great both at work and hanging out.

My family have perceptions about him, as he has a short history of depression and comes across as distant on first meetings.

However, he is pretty chatty and good company when he is with me, which sort of makes it difficult for me to determine whether he fancies me or just enjoys my company purely as friends.

Is it necessary of me to find out his intentions, and if so how?

How should I take my family's opinions?

Would it be wrong to buy him a Christmas present?

Please help.

Thanks :-)

A female reader, Ayame-chan United States +, writes (14 November 2009):

Ayame-chan agony auntIt is necessary to find out his intentions, but take it slow. Try to get to know more about him, ask him what his favourite types of movies/music is, etc etc.

Your family's opinions are their own, don't fight with them about their opinions, but try to softly disagree.

I don't see anything wrong with buying him a Christmas present! Like I said, see what kind of stuff he's into, you could find something to make him super=happy! Or maybe you can hand-make something. It's your choice, but their is nothing wrong with buying some one you like/love a Christmas present.

Hope this helps :)
