Save yourself any future grief. Cut him out of your life. This doesn't mean you have to be cold and uncivil if you run into him somewhere, it just means move on without him.

I'm somewhat biased on this subject, but I am strictly against keeping an ex as a friend until you are COMPLETELY over them. Keeping them as a friend always keeps hope alive. You need time away from them to get over the past and strengthen yourself. No contact is best, at least in my opinion--at least until you're healed. =)
