A female United States age 36-40, *f-its-real writes:

I just started this new job. My friend works there so i know alot of the people there and ever since my friend started i thought the manager was attractive. Well now that i work there i really like him. My friend told him that and he hinted that he liked me to but he can't say it cause its against the work rules managers can't have out of work realationships with co workers. Well he said he wants to fire me or me quit so we can talk and i want to cause he makes me feel different like i always blush when im around him and i get all nervous. I never felt like that if i like a guy i just go for it but he intimidates me. Well i can't get him off my mind and im to nervous to ask him what he wants me to do but also i really like my job alot. What should i do. Quit to talk to him and risk losing a really good job on something that might not work or keep my job and not be able to talk to him? HELP IM LOSING MY MIND this is actually more stressful then it seems. All day at work i think about just quiting so i can be allowed to talk to him but then im afraid it will end up not working.

The manager is probably not the bloke you would want, hon. If he actually made that statement, that he would like to fire you so you could "talk", he was way out of bounds. If you really like your job and want to stay, I would say, "cool" the romantic ideas. And let it get back to him that you are not interested. Just my thoughts.
