writes: Me and my girlfriend see each other rarely, well only on weekends, due to her exams. We are both always wanting to have sex. The only problem is, when I was getting ready *putting the condom on* I accidently went to put it on the wrong way and put pre cum on it. I tried wiping it off, being the only condom I had at the time. I put it in. Now all of my friends say that if she was rather wet at the time it's unlikley, but I just can't get it out of my head. I'm worried that she could fall pregnant. What do I do???If some one could help me I would be forever gratefulcheers mat.

reader, anonymous, writes (25 May 2005): YES she can get pregnant, talk to your girlfriend and actually talk about if you want to get pregnant!? if so then why worry, being pregnant is a beautiful thing and if you do not want to get pregnant, your girlfriend should take birth control tablets or go to the doctors and have a pregnancy test taken, what i suggest is dont be so worried and just chill, because maybe this girl wants to have a baby but does not feel comfortable telling you because you are stressing about it, just talk to your girl mate! good luck x

YES.if in doubt you should take emergency contraceptive asap.The pill is more effective if taken within 24 hrs, it gets less effective 24hrs-48hrs and alot less effective 48hrs-72 hrs and after that its basically useless.If this happened earlier today or yesterday..there is still time, however, i think its unlikely for her to be pregnant, but it is possible

 If I had to give you the worst-case scenario, I'd have to say, pregnancy only takes ONE sperm. Yes, it's possible that your girlfriend could get pregnant from this one accident because there are low numbers of sperm in pre-cum. However, it's also possible that she could get pregnant if the condom splits or spills or falls off, right? If you're going to be having sex regularly (and if you only plan on having one condom handy from time to time), then maybe you two need to discuss a more reliable form of contraception.You and your girl need to talk about this, very soon. Does she know about this potential accident? If not, you need to tell her, so she can pay attention to her cycle and get a pregnancy test if necessary.It's very easy to cross your fingers and "hope for the best" in the heat of the moment, but when you do, this is the kind of worry that you end up with. (And if *you're* concerned, imagine how your girlfriend must be feeling!) Please make a point of discussing this with her and finding a back-up method, in case your condom use isn't 100% perfect in future.
