We have been trying for a baby for over 1 year without succsess, my partner has had a semen test and it has come back that he has high vicosity and low fluid concentration and they have asked for another sample. Has anyone any idea what this means, but today I was empting his work bag and found 4 bottles of steriods, he was on these when we first met but told me he had stop taking them, when I asked him today about these he blamed me for empting his back and said he gets no privacy at all, he then said he does take them as they make him look and feel better, I am so upset with him but dont know what to do as I hate him taking these and am so worried that they could effect his sperm test, can anyone please offer me any advice.

My partner has recently had 3 sperm samplea as we are havong fertility treeatment the first 2 came back low and the 3rd one came back alot highwr. The doctor asked if he had taken steriods as that would explian tbe difference. He admitted that he use to but stopped about 6 weeks to having his 3rd test. The doctor told us thats wat the problem was. His body wasnt producing enough testorone because the steriods were makibg his body think he had enough. She said we could get pregnant naturally but it could take years for all the steriods to come out his body and his sperm to return to normal. My partner was really upset being told it was his fault and has promised to stay off them. We are due to start our first round of icsi soon. Hope this helps you.

Have you gone thru fertility testing? You also need to be checked out, as it's 50% the woman, 50% the male and sometimes it could be both that are infertile.
High viscosity just means the fluid that his sperm swims in is too thick. He can take Mucinex to thin it out, or just drink a lot more water. High viscosity alone isn't enough to pin infertility on him. The doctor would have told you he had a low sperm count or motility. Then there's an issue.
Steroid use can affect his fertility..they're already affecting his testicles.
I'd tell him if he's serious about having a baby then he needs to knock off the steroid use and drink more water. Then you need to be submitted to fertility testing as well. That's very important in getting answers as to why you haven't conceived.
Good luck!

Yes, they will definitely effect his sperm! You should really ask your doctors what he can do to improve his semen viscosity. He should be living as healthily as possible. If he isn't willing to give up steroid use I would really question his motivation for wanting to have a baby yet.
