The evening I broke up with my real life bf I went online randomly and by coincidence we met up on messenger first time after 1 year. I was devastated after my break up and he held me companyt for 3 hours. Same next day. Same everyday for 2 weeks. He startes to tell me details about his life and his thoughts about things, etc; He then decides to not use chatline so much but he gave me his phone number. It's been 3 weeks since he texts me regularly, him always initiating. We talked a couple of times on the phone. He is not flirty, but very supportive and basically a petient listening ear, with lots of insightful advice. He suggested meeting up, and we eventually agreed ona day for next week. He calls himself my 'pall'.He knows im emotionally vulnerable and there has never been any silly insinuation of any kind. He knows - I told him - that he has been a godsend in the sense that he has been a good distraction from my break up shock and a very kind listening ear, things I would only expect from my best friends. I want to know, what is he on about? why would he want to meet me? My friend tells me he wants more than meeting me as a pal, but im not sure. Could he be a freak??

reader, anonymous, writes (11 June 2009): It's someone you met off the internet so who knows who he is or what his intentions are. you could end up sitting across from a 90 year old man. Meet him and you be the judge. Make sure you meet in a public place. It's ironic that you are asking people on the internet opinions on a person also off the internet, so we could all be freaks as far as you know. You are in your late twenties so at some point you are going to have to learn to trust your own judgement when you meet someone.
