reader, anonymous, writes (25 December 2005): well firstly yes it is possible for a straight person to fall in love with someone of the same sex- im a girl, and this happened to me- i liked a straight girl for about two years, and eventually she told me that she fancied me (even tho i was the only girl she ever fancied)
so i would say yeah you do have a chance, but the best thing to do is to get to know him better and not think about things too much:
if you become more than friends, fantastic, if not it was never meant to be, tou got a good mate instead

reader, anonymous, writes (24 December 2005): If your crush already has a girlfriend, you are required to assume he is straight. Believe it or not, some straight guys are nice/secure enough that a confession of gay affection will not anger or bother them. It seems like he's pretty nice in that regard, but if he's into girls, he's into girls. Don't waste time trying to interperet anything about him as gay unless you're trying to interpret the words "I am gay/bisexual/interested in having sex with other men" coming out of his mouth.
If you can't stand the ambiguity (even though it looks pretty clear to me), come right out and ask him if he has ever considered having sex with men. That ought to clear things up.
