It was kind of monotone and there's no smileys.A few days ago he would use a smiley or two once every few messages. And he would ask me questions. And that's day itself he asked me out with his friends.Well, tomorrow's the day I'm going out with him. I feel weird, like he seemed hard to approach due to his recent texts. He feels distant. It sounded as though he can't be bothered to to text back, thus sending those replies. Losing interest?I'm not desperate. I don't text him all day long, sending a few text messages at one go 'IF' he doesn't reply. (which haven't happened before)Am I reading too much into it?A guy asking questions and a few smileys through text and then then went back to monotone short/slightly long replies. Is this normal?

you cannot base a relationship on texting. my partner never texts me.
get it in your head now: NO HAVING RELATIONSHIPS VIA TEXT MESSAGES.
pick up the phone and make a phone call if you are concerned.
you are reading too much into it.
a text to confirm what time you are going out would be fine but to have texts back and forth all day and then get all upset if he doesn't respond is just silly.
not all text messages get through they are piggybacked on OTHER packets of data on the network (why they offer such cheap texting rates it costs the company nothing to do it)... but sometimes they get dropped or the phone does not get the message.
do not base how a person feels about you on if they text or don't text.
